Double-Disc Grinding Technology

With Double-Disc grinding technology, parts are passed, one or more times, between two counter-rotating grinding wheels. Double-Disc grinding removes material from both sides of the part simultaneously, providing surfaces that are flat and parallel in just one operation. This technology can be used for effective yet efficient production of one-of-a-kind parts or millions of the same parts.

Double-Disc ground parts can be precisely controlled for thickness while achieving superior surface finishes. Even difficult-to-grind materials such as inconel and titanium can be ground flat and parallel using Double-Disc grinding technology where parts are processed by flat wheel surfaces instead of wheel edges. Double-Disc grinding can also be used to produce products with very thin cross sections while minimizing part stress.
