Case of metal CBN grinding wheel for engine valve
How to grind engine valve?
Grinding is a relatively important link in the engine valve processing chain, so it plays a large role in the quality of parts. Grinding wheels are used to process engine valves (intake valves, outlet valves) of automobiles, motorcycles, trucks, etc. The valve is an important part of the engine, and the processing accuracy of the valve directly affects the reliability and efficiency of the engine. Formed grinding wheels include ordinary corundum grinding wheels and new electroplated CBN grinding wheels.
What are the main components of valve grinding?
– Valve cut off grinding
– Valve shaft centerless grinding
– Valve head & seat grinding
– Valve groove & tip radius grinding
– Valve stem end grinding
– Valve seat grinding
When selecting a CBN wheel for valve grinding, it is important to consider factors such as the size and shape of the valve and valve seat, the material being ground, and the desired finish.
CBN is a superhard material second only to diamond in hardness, making it ideal for grinding hard materials such as ferrous metals including valves. A metal bond CBN (cubic boron nitride) grinding wheel is a grinding wheel that uses a metal bond to hold the CBN abrasive grains in place.
Valve grinding involves the removal of material from valve and/or seat surfaces to improve its sealing performance. Metal bond CBN grinding wheels grind quickly and efficiently while maintaining their shape and holding their grit in place.
The form CBN grinding wheel uses cubic boron nitride as the abrasive, which is a superrhard material second only to diamond in hardness. It not only has many excellent properties of diamond but also has higher thermal stability and resistance to iron group metals and their alloys. Chemical inertness can effectively reduce the fatigue of the processed workpiece during the grinding process, increase the service life of the workpiece, and has good self-sharpening, sharp grinding, not easy to block and burn the workpiece, and is suitable for high-speed grinding. CBN abrasives are solidified on the precision-machined steel matrix by electroplating, which can be used for hard grinding of steel or cast iron, and can maintain shape accuracy well. Due to the above characteristics, the use of formed electroplated CBN grinding wheels to grind key parts such as the valve lock clamp groove and the end of the outer conical face plate can effectively ensure the accuracy and consistency of the valve and greatly improve the processing efficiency.
