How many kinds of rolls?

According to the shape of roll body：
Rolls are divided into cylindrical and non-cylindrical rolls, the former is mainly used for sheet, strip, profile and wire production, and the non-cylindrical rolls are mainly used for pipe production.

According to the type of rolling mill:
(1) Flat roll
That is, the roll of strip mill is cylindrical. Generally, the roll of hot rolled steel plate mill is made into micro-concave shape. When it is heated and expanded, a better shape can be obtained. The roll of a cold rolling plate mill is made into a slightly convex shape. During rolling, the roll bends to obtain a good shape.

(2) Grooved roll
Grooved roll used for rolling large, medium and small steel, wire and roughing. A groove is carved on the roll surface to shape the rolled piece.

(3) Special roll
Special roll used in steel tube mill, wheel mill, steel ball mill and punch mill. The roll of this mill has a variety of different shapes, such as steel pipe rolling rolling principle of rolling roll conical, drum or disc shape.

According to the product type, the rolling process can be divided into four basic types: strip rolling, pipe rolling, profile rolling, and rod and wire rolling; according to the production process, it can be divided into hot rolling and cold rolling; according to thickness, it can be divided into four basic types. Thin plate (thickness <4mm), medium plate (thickness 4~20mm), thick plate (thickness 20~60mm), extra-thick plate (thickness>60mm, up to 700mm thick). In actual work, medium and thick plates are collectively referred to as “medium and heavy plates”.
